Do I have to take any written or driving tests to obtain a MA driver license? Massachusetts
Yes, in most cases. See which category below describes your situation to see what you need to do to get your Massachusetts drivers license.
New MA Resident
If you recently moved to the state and have a current, valid driver license from your former state, you don't need to take either test. Just proceed to the nearest RMV office with the proper identification.New MA Resident With an Expired License
If your license expired within the past 12 months, just follow the instructions above. If it's been longer than a year, you may have to pass the written drivers license test. If it's been over four years, you'll probably need to pass both the written and road exams. All Other MA Residents
No matter how old you are, if you're a resident who has never held a license, you'll need to pass the written and the driving test in order to gain your license. Be sure to prepare for your written tests by taking a few practice tests; doing so will reinforce the knowledge in your mind, and make it easier to ace the official written test on the first try.Appointments
While you don't need to make an appointment for the written test, you'll need one for the road test. You can make your appointment by calling (800) 858-3926 and talking to a RMV operator, or using the automated system at (866)-MASSRMV or (866) 627-7768.Fees
Written tests cost $30 and road tests cost $20. You can repeat the written test for another $30. You can take the road test for an additional $20; you can only take six road tests within a 12-month period.Post Comment for "Do I have to take any written or driving tests to obtain a MA driver license?"
