What should I study for the permit test?
Simply put, if you don’t study for the permit test you run the risk of failing, and this carries a variety of consequences aside from just not getting your learners permit. - Enrolling in a drivers ed course designed to help you prepare for the permit test as well as your eventual drivers license exam. (Some states require teen drivers to successfully complete these courses before they can apply for their drivers licenses.)
- Study your driver handbook. Depending on your state, you can pick up a copy at your local DMV office or download a copy from your state’s DMV Web site.
- Taking a practice test. You can obtain practice tests from numerous sources. Try your local DMV office, your driver handbook, your drivers ed instructor, or online through your state’s DMV Web site or a third-party agency.
