Where can I find a drivers permit study guide?
There are several ways you can get your hands on a drivers permit study guide – or, at the very least, ways you can find solid resources for preparing for what you’ll need to know once you’re ready to apply for your learners permit.
Search the Web
The Internet is abundant with resources for each beginning driver preparing to apply for his learners permit or drivers license.
Check your state’s DMV Web site for online copies of any drivers permit study guides; if there are none, check for copies of the driver handbook. Many times a state will include a special study guide within the handbook, and some states even include practice tests you can take after studying the guide.
You can also check the Web sites of third-party agencies that specialize in helping drivers prepare for their learners permit and drivers license exams. Not only do many of these agencies provide drivers permit study guides, but also practice permit tests applicants can take to better prepare for the real deal.
Visit Your DMV
If you can’t find anything on your state’s DMV Web site, give your local office a call or drop by to inquire about how you can obtain copies of the driver handbook and any special study guides they provide for drivers license applicants and their parents.
Too, if your driver handbook doesn’t provide a practice permit test and you can’t find one on the state’s Web site, ask a DMV official if they provide those separately.
Hit Up Your Drivers Ed Instructor
It’s your drivers ed instructor’s job to prepare you for the exams you must pass to obtain your learners permit, and later, your drivers license; chances are he’ll provide you with a drivers permit study guide as well as a practice test or two. If he doesn’t, you can use any of the avenues above to search for a study guide (and a practice test, if necessary) as well as use the class notes to help yourself prepare for the exams.
