A mail license renewal in Florida follows a pretty simple process. However, not everyone can renew their FL drivers license this way. For instance, you can only renew by mail two consecutive times. You'll know if you can renew by mail if the state sends you a mail renewal package.

Renew License by Mail

  1. Open the renewal package
  2. Complete the information that's requested
  3. Write a check for the $48 renewal fee
  4. Enclose the paperwork and the check in the envelope
Your renewal should arrive within two weeks.

Expired License

If you don't complete your license renewal in time, you'll be hit with a $15 delinquent fee. And, don't try driving with an expired license. If you're caught doing so by law enforcement, you'll face a traffic ticket and a large fine.
