New Driver Checklist

Duplicate License Fee

If you have a lost drivers license and need a replacement drivers license, the fee is just $10 to get it re-issued. It will be exactly the same as the driver license lost.

DMV Online Duplicate Ordering

The North Carolina has a simple online ordering form to get a replacement driver license. You’ll need:

  • A PIN, assigned by the NC DMV. If you don’t have one, you may request one using a link on the duplicate order form.
  • A Social Security number or other government ID number filed with the DMV.
  • A working e-mail address. This is where your confirmation will be sent.
  • A valid Visa or Mastercard, to charge the $10.
  • Your drivers license number.
  • A drivers license issued after October 1996. This applies to everyone driving today.
If you changed your address and never changed it with the DMV, or forgot your drivers license number, you’ll need to head into the DMV in person to replace your lost license. Bring another form of ID with you.
