NJ Renew License

New Jersey license renewal fees are as follows:

  • Four-year drivers license - $24
  • Six-year driver license - $33
To renew, you must visit a DMV office (known as an MVC office in NJ) in-person. You cannot renew online or by mail. Be sure to bring with you:

  • Enough identification to meet 6 Point Identification Verification requirements.
  • Your current driver license.
  • Cash, check or credit card (American Express, Visa, MasterCard) to pay the license renewal fee.

Expired License Consequences

If caught behind the wheel without a valid New Jersey driver license, you will be issued a traffic ticket and fined. Also, if you allow your license to be expired for longer than three years, you will, when reapplying, be required to re-take and pass all three driver license tests (vision, written, road).
