MA Renew License Online Restrictions
You can only renew your driver license online once every 10 years, which works out to every other renewal as licenses are valid for five years.You can't use this option, however, if you:
- Need to change your name
- Don't have a Social Security number
- Want to update your organ donor preference
- Have a license picture that occurred before your 21st birthday
- Have a license picture that's more than nine years old
- Want to register to vote
- Haven't received your confirmation from your online change of address
Other Important Drivers License Renewal Information
You don't have to wait to the last minute to renew your license; in fact, you can do it up to a year in advance. The renewal fee is $75 for the five-year license.Just make sure you don't drive with an expired license, as you risk getting nailed with a traffic ticket and a hefty fine.
