Where can I find drivers ed for teens?
High schools, colleges and driving schools all offer drivers ed for teens. Call the school directly for course information (hours, location, cost). Driving schools are listed in all phone books. Or, you can try visiting your state’s DMV Web site. Some sites conveniently provide driving school contact numbers. Wisconsin’s DMV, for example, offers an alphabetical list of every driving school in the state, along with information on whether it teaches behind the wheel only or combines classroom time with road time.
Before enrolling, be sure the school or course is certified by your state's DMV. Otherwise your state will not honor your course certificate, thus delaying receiving a permit and/or drivers license.
With this in mind, it’s to your benefit to know your state’s drivers education requirements before searching for a course. Know how many hours your state mandates behind the wheel. Or whether it also requires classroom training. Or allows online instruction. This way you’ll be able to gauge if you’re dealing with a certified school and/or instructor.
