Where can I get an emissions or smog check for GA vehicle registration? Georgia
Inspections are conducted by the Georgia Clean Air Force at stations located throughout the state. You can find a listing of inspection locations on the GA Clean Air Force Web site or call (800) 449-2471 for assistance selecting a location for your inspection. Since the Department of Revenue (DOR) does not conduct emissions testing, these office locations are unable to provide help with this aspect of the car registration process.
Remember, if your car or light duty truck has an 8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight rating or less and is registered in any of the following counties, you might be required to have an emissions inspection for vehicle registration:

Minimizing Wait Times for Emissions Inspections
If you're like most
- Some locations will allow appointments. Consider calling ahead to ask if this is an option for the testing station you wish to visit.
- When selecting a time to get your smog and emissions testing, you'll have the best luck during the middle of the week, middle of the month, and middle of the day.
- Keep in mind that you do not have to have your vehicle inspected in the county in which it is registered. You may visit whatever inspection station is most convenient for you, no matter when you initially handled the register car process.
