It's a pretty simple process. Just follow the directions below for corrected titles, which includes a name change:

  1. Get a title amendment form from the RMV (available online or at a full-service RMV office)
  2. Complete the required sections
  3. Have all owners listed on the auto title sign the form
  4. Send the form, the original title, and a $25 check (made payable to MassDOT) to:
Title Correction Department
Registry of Motor Vehicles
P.O. Box 55885
Boston, MA 02205-5885

Adding or Deleting Owners from Titles

Be aware if you're adding or deleting an owner from a car title (instead of just doing a correction) you'll need to complete a title transfer application form, request a brand new title, and pay a $75 fee.
