What are the vehicle title fees in North Carolina? North Carolina
Car Title Fees
In North Carolina, the vehicle title fee you pay will depend both on the title transaction you're completing and the method in which you're receiving the title.
Common fees are:
- $40 for Certificate of Title (this will be mailed to you).
- $75 for Instant Title (instant print out; at Raleigh or Charlotte only).
- $15 for Salvage Title.
In most cases, you'll pay a title fee when you're completing a title transfer and you need a new title; however, if you're also registering a car, you should plan to pay additional car registration fees as well.
Note that transactions involving titles must take place at the NC DMV; you may not order titles online or by mail.
