Fees for Vanity Plates and Personalized Plates
The New Jersey MVC charges a one-time custom license plate fee of $50. This is in addition, of course, to regular NJ registration fees. A personalized plate is limited to seven characters, three of which must be letters. Specialty plates aren't as clear cut when it comes to price. For example, fees for organizational license plates vary by organization. A license plate for a service organization costs $15, while one for a community organization goes for $25.
