MA Vehicle Registration Renewal Options
The Massachusetts RMV provides four options to renew your vehicle registration: online, in person, by phone, and by mail.RMV Online Registration Renewal
To renew your DMV registration and license plate online, just go to the RMV's online renewal page and follow the instructions provided.You must pay your fee with a MasterCard, Visa, or Discover Card. And, to renew using this option, your renewal card must indicate "Ins. Stamp Not Needed Active Policy on File."
RMV In-Person Registration Renewal
Visit any full-service RMV location, bring your renewal card, and pay your fee.
If an insurance stamp is required, make sure your insurance agent stamps and signs the RMV-2 form and bring that form with you.
RMV Phone Registration Renewal
Call (617) 351-4500 or (800) 858-3926 to renew.
You must pay your renewal fee with a MasterCard, Visa, or Discover Card. And, your renewal card must say "Ins. Stamp Not Needed Active Policy on File."
RMV Mail Registration Renewal
Send your completed Form RMV-2 or Form RMV-3, and a check or money order payment to:

RMV Registration Renewal Fees
These fees vary, but your cost should be indicated on your car registration renewal card. If not, call the RMV at (617) 351-4500 or (800) 858-3926.By the way, you'll need to clean up any outstanding obligations or unpaid tickets before renewing your car registration by any method. And, don't try driving with expired license plates or car tags as you could receive a traffic ticket and a fine for doing so.
