For the young, turning a certain age can mean the possibility of driving a car and all the joy that can bring. If you are a male between the ages of 18 and 24, however, you will generally pay more for car insurance than a female of the same age. So when do car insurance rates equal out for men and women? The answer is between the ages of 25 and 49. After age 25, men and women have similar accident patterns and typically see lower insurance rates. At age 25, males will often see a decrease in their car insurance costs.

Gender, age, and marital status play a big role in predicting if certain age groups are more likely or not to experience an accident. Drivers between the ages of 50 and 64 experience the fewest accidents of any age group, and at this age many drivers again see a decrease in their insurance rates. For drivers still behind the wheel after age 75, accident rates are even higher than for males between the ages of 18 and 24 and may be reflected in their auto insurance rates.
