Georgia Motorcycle Registration

To obtain motorcycle license plates in GA, you will need to register your motorcycle with the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), just as you would a car or truck.  You have 30 days from the date you establish GA residency, or the date you acquire a new motorcycle, to register it with MVD.

Visit your county's Tag Office with the following in hand:

  • Your GA drivers license.
  • A completed Form MV-1, available through the MVD website.
  • Proof of ownership.
  • Proof of insurance.
  • The certificate of inspection.
  • Proof of residency.
  • Cash or an in-state check for payment of taxes and fees.

Georgia License Plates

A motorcycle license plate costs $20. A license plate will be issued to you upon completion of the registration process. Motorcycles carry tags with the format MA through OZ. As part of the registration process, you might also be subject to ad valorem taxes, sales taxes, and an $18 titling fee.
