Can I Get a Free Bill of Sale?

It all depends on your place of residence. If you live in a state that requires a bill of sale for registering a vehicle, your Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will more than likely offer this form for free.

If so, you can either pick up a car bill of sale form from your local DMV office, or, more than likely, download it from your state’s DMV Web site.

If, by chance, your state does not offer a free bill of sale form and you are required to submit one (or just feel more secure having one on file for your personal records), you can find many generic bill of sale forms online through third-party providers.
