Preparing for the Knowledge and Driving Tests
No appointment is needed to take the general knowledge test. Grab a CDL manual from any PennDOT Driver License Center to study for the exam. All of the questions are based on information explained in the manual. You should also take a CDL practice test. These CDL practice exams feature questions similar to those found on the actual exam.
After passing the knowledge test and obtaining your CDL permit, you'll need to wait 15 days before taking the road test. No matter what CDL class you're applying for, you will need to make an appointment for the driving test.
