After you have a motorcycle permit, you may operate a motorcycle with someone in sight who is at least 21 years of age and has a valid motorcycle license. Depending upon your circumstances, this could be a parent or guardian, qualified motorcycle safety instructor, or another rider licensed to operate motorcycles.
Getting a Texas Motorcycle Permit
Remember, to get a permit you must be at least 15 years of age. There are absolutely no exceptions made to this rule. Visit a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) drivers license office and complete the following steps:
- Submit an application with a photograph and fingerprints.
- Show proof of identity and Social Security number.
- Submit proof of current school attendance.
- Show parental authorization.
- Pass the written motorcycle test and vision screening.
- Pay the required fees.
