Motorcycle Driver License and Permit Fees

Getting a new motorcycle permit in Florida costs the same as renewing one: $54.25. The same fee applies to getting and renewing a drivers license permit.

Of course, you may have to pay other fees in pursuit of your motorcycle permit. For instance, if you're not successful on your first attempt to pass the written part of the motorcycle test, you'll have to pay $10 for each additional license test. And, you'll face a $20 fee for each attempt at the road portion of the motorcycle test after the initial test.

Considering this, it's a good idea to take a written motorcycle practice test or two. Doing so enhances your ability to pass the official drivers license test on your first try. And, think about taking a motorcycle safety course to develop your motorcycle riding skills and prepare you for the road test.

Have any additional questions about motorcycles or getting a motorcycle license? Or maybe how to handle a license renewal? Contact the FL DHSMV at (850) 617-2000 or stop by a drivers license office.
