NJ Motorcycle License and Permit Fees
You can expect to pay the following motorcycle license and motorcycle permit fees:- Motorcycle permit: $5
- Motorcycle license: $24
- Motorcycle license renewal: $24
Obtaining Your New Jersey Motorcycle Permit
If you’re just beginning the application process, remember you must be at least 17 years old to apply for a motorcycle permit. If you qualify, visit any MVC driver license office and follow these steps:- Complete a motorcycle permit application.
- Satisfy the state's 6 Point ID Verification requirements.
- Pass the vision test.
- Pass the knowledge test.
- Pay the $5 permit fee with cash or a check, money order, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).
After studying the manual, you'll next want to take an online practice test. Take as many practice tests as needed until you feel certain of acing the actual exam.
You must hold your motorcycle permit for 20 days before you can take the state's license test.
Motorcycle Safety Course
As if learning all about the safe and legal operation of motorcycles in New Jersey and honing your motorcycle riding skills weren’t reasons enough, the MVC will waive your license test (skills) if you complete a class with a state-approved Motorcycle Safety Education program. Otherwise, you must make an appointment for a motorcycle drivers license test.
