PA Motorcycle Registration and Renewal Fees

Pennsylvania’s fee to complete the vehicle registration for a motor-driven cycle (a bike with a 1.6-5 brake horsepower range) for the first time is $9. The registration fee in Pennsylvania (PA) for a motorcycle with a 5 or higher brake horsepower range is $18. You pay the motorcycle registration fee at the same time that you register your motorcycle in person at the nearest Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) service center.

Registration renewal fees must be paid annually in order for bikers to continue to go motorcycle riding in PA. Costs of motorcycle registration renewal fees in PA are the same as the costs of the initial registration fees for motor-driven bikes and motorcycles.

You can submit your annual registration renewal payment online using a credit card. If you mail your registration renewal form into PennDOT, include a check, written out to “Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” with your signed renewal form.

A Note for Moped and Scooter Owners

Depending on the motor size of your moped or scooter, you might not have to register the vehicle.  Mopeds and scooters that have engines smaller than 50 cubic centimeters and that cannot exceed 25 miles per hour do not have to be registered in PA.
