If you own a motor vehicle that is registered in the state of Pennsylvania (PA), you are required to have personal injury protection (PIP) insurance coverage on the vehicle. This includes cars, motorcycles, buses, trucks, and recreational vehicles (RVs).Property and personal injury caused to another vehicle or driver during an accident are covered with liability insurance. Minimum liability car insurance coverage that you can have on these vehicles is as follows:
- $5,000: Property damages caused by your motor vehicle to another vehicle or person.
- $15,000: Damages caused by your motor vehicle in an accident that lead to the death or injury of another person, including another driver, passenger, or a pedestrian.
- $30,000: Damages caused by your motor vehicle in an accident that lead to the death or injury of two or more people, including passengers in your or another motor vehicle and pedestrians.
