New and Used Cars Under PA Lemon Laws

The Pennsylvania (PA) Automobile Lemon Law covers new cars and used cars that are bought or leased from licensed automobile dealers in the state. New cars and used cars that are purchased from out-of-state car dealers are also covered under the state’s Lemon Laws.

Whether the lemon car is purchased in or out-of-state, the owner must register the automobile with the nearest Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) service center when they purchase the car, not after the car has been deemed to be a lemon. The owner should keep detailed records of all repairs made to the car by the manufacturer, dealer, or their own mechanic or auto repair shop.

If you have questions about the PA Automobile Lemon Law, you can contact a Lemon Law lawyer. A Lemon Law attorney is experienced with the state’s laws regarding lemons and how to proceed if your rights aren’t met.

Questions can also be directed to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Lemon Law Hotline at (800) 441-2555. The hotline is available to field questions and concerns Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
