Generally, parking violations do not show up on your driving record. Your driving record contains information about moving violations and any traffic accidents you've been involved in. It does not contain information about offenses not related to your ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Insurance companies sometimes pull driving records when deciding whether or not to raise policy premiums for a particular driver. However, since parking tickets do not show up on your driving record, it is unlikely you will see your auto insurance premiums increase after receiving a parking ticket.

If you receive an excess number of parking tickets or fail to pay your parking tickets in a timely manner, however, you may find that your license is suspended. In this case, the suspended license will show up on your driving record. Since a suspended license can increase your insurance rates in addition to making it harder to get around to your daily activities, it's best to obey all parking laws and make sure your tickets are paid as soon as possible.

If you are concerned about what information appears on your driving record, the best way to put your mind at ease is to visit your local DMV office. After showing proof of identity, filling out a short form, and paying a small fee, you'll be able to see your driving record and check for any errors in the information this document contains.
