New Jersey ID Card Fees

To apply for, renew, or a replace a New Jersey identification card you have to pay one of the following ID card fees:

  • State ID: $24
  • State ID renewal: $24
  • Duplicate state ID: $11
All ID card transactions must be completed in person at any NJ MVC office. When you arrive have the following:

  • Enough identification to satisfy the state's 6 Point ID Verification Program. The MVC assigns point values to different forms of identification. A current U.S. passport, for example, packs four points, while a bank statement carries one point. Visit the MVC website for a complete ID listing.
  • Cash or a check, money order, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Visa) to pay the applicable fee.
Carrying a New Jersey identification card brings convenience into your life, especially if you're a teen without any other form of photo identification. (Keep in mind, though, teens must be at least 17 before they can apply for ID cards.) With it you can cash checks, open banks accounts and even register to vote if, of course, you're of age.
