Illinois State ID Cards

Illinois offers three different kinds of identification cards: cards for residents younger than 65 (this includes teens), cards for seniors, and cards for disabled people.

Younger than 65


There is no minimum age to receive this ID card, making it especially perfect for any teen who has yet to obtain a drivers license. With it you can open a bank account, register to vote, and board planes.  

To obtain, visit any IL driver services facility and present:

  • Proper identification.
  • Cash or a check or credit card to pay the $20 ID fee ($10 if you're younger than 18).
The ID card is valid for five years.

Senior Card


Visit your local driver services facility and provide proper ID. There is no fee. This identification card has lifetime validation.

Disabled Person ID Card


Visit your local driver services facility and present:

  • Proper identification.
  • A completed Application for Disabled Person ID Card. It must be filled out by a licensed physician.
There is no charge for this ID card and it’s valid for 10 years.
