Pennsylvania Identification Card Fees

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) issues the state’s identification (ID) cards. If you are 10 years or older, you can apply to receive the identification card. Teens and adults can use the card as identification that confirms their age.

Fees associated with the state ID fall under Pennsylvania’s (PA) regular driver license service fees. The ID card fees are as follows:

  • Processing fee for the first identification card: $12
  • Fee to renew a photo identification card: $12
  • Charge to replace a lost or stolen identification card: $12
  • Cost to change the address or name on an identification card: Free
Teen, minor, and adult residents are required to pay the applicable fees at the nearest PennDOT service center before they are issued the PA ID card. Applicants who write checks with insufficient funds to cover the fees, are billed a $30 returned check fee by PennDOT.

PA ID cards are valid for four years from the date that they are issued.
