Living in the Sunshine State often brings up questions regarding window tinting. See below for details concerning auto tinting.

FL Window Tint Restrictions

  • Front window: A window tint strip may be placed at the top of the windshield, above the AS-1 line. The car tint strip cannot interfere with the driver's vision.

  • Rear Side Windows: A minimum 15% VLT is required.

FL Reflectivity Restrictions

Tint laws dictate that the tint can't reflect more than 25% light on the front side windows, and 35% on the rear window.

FL Tint Law Exceptions

Those with physical conditions requiring limited exposure to light may apply for a medical certificate giving them permission to exceed the customary tinting standards.

FL Tinted Windows Penalties

Failing to follow the Florida tinted window safety laws is considered to be a non-moving violation; you may receive a warning or a ticket with a fine.
