Searching for a Charity
Many national and local charities accept used cars. When you donate a car, the charity might sell it for junk, or auction it off to raise money.Simply look up your favorite charity and ask about its donate car policy. If you can’t think of a charity, do a search for car donations and charities and a list will appear.
Once you choose a charity, ask if it will pick up the car for you. Also be sure to get a receipt. If you wait until after auction, you can deduct the sale amount. Otherwise, you must deduct only the car’s value, up to $500.
