GA Auto Sales Person License Fees

The state of Georgia does not require a salesperson license to sell used or new cars. The only license required is a dealer license for dealers wishing to sell used cars. New car dealers, on the other hand, are franchises of the manufacturers and do require a state issued license for car sales.

Car Dealer License Fees

The fees for initial used car dealer licensure are as follows:

  • $170 application fee.
  • $170 supplemental license fee for an additional lot.
  • $24 processing fee.
  • $250 penalty fee for non-licensed auto sales.
The above salesperson fees are payable to the Used Motor Vehicle Dealer Board of the GA MVD, with the exception of the $24 processing fee, which is payable to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

Auto Sales Person Application Process

The application process for auto sales people varies with every dealer, however all auto dealers must complete and submit Form MV-6A to the GA MVD, authorizing new employees to sell and transport company vehicles. Information required on the form includes:

  • Company name, address, and ID number.
  • Employee name and title (dealer, manufacturer, distributor, or transporter).
  • Employee signature and date of employer authorization.
