The KS Drivers Permit and Drivers License

Before you can apply for a Kansas drivers license you must first obtain a learners permit. If you're between the ages of 14 and 16 you must hold your permit for at least one year before you can upgrade to a drivers license. If you're 17 or older you have the green light to apply for a drivers license as soon as you obtain a driving permit.
