Applying for a Nevada Learners Permit
Officials at the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) have authority to enforce drivers license and learners permit rules and regulations in the state. The department administers examinations for each driving permit and drivers license in Nevada (NV).You are eligible to receive a NV driving permit when you turn 15 1/2 years old. Visit the nearest DMV office to apply to receive the permit. Teens that are younger than 18 years old should bring their parents or legal guardians with them to the DMV office.
Provide identification that proves that you are a United States citizen and that proves that you are a resident of NV. Acceptable forms of identification that proves citizenship include:
- Social security card
- Birth certificate
- Military identification card
- United States passport
- Official citizenship or naturalization certification
- Utility bill
- Lease or mortgage agreement
- W-2 forms
- Your first and last name
- Home mailing address (including street, city, state and zip code)

Grab a copy of the NV Driver's Manual before you leave the DMV office. Consider studying the manual with a relative or friend. Review the practice permit test questions at the back of the drivers manual before you take the actual written test. You have to score at least 80 percent on the test in order to get your drivers permit.
