What restrictions apply to new and teen drivers with a ND drivers license? North Dakota

New Driver Checklist
There are a few driving restrictions to keep in mind if you're a teen with a North Dakota driving permit; see below for details.

ND Learners Permit Restrictions

You may only drive with someone who is at least 18 years old sitting in the front passenger seat. And, that person must have held a drivers license for at least three years for the same vehicle class you're driving.

If you gather six or more points on your driving record - or commit any alcohol-related offense - your permit will be cancelled. You will need to go through the permit process again and get a new learners permit.

If you're younger than 18, you must have your drivers permit for at least six months before trying for your drivers license.

ND Minors/Restricted License Restrictions

You can't drive with more passengers in the vehicle than recommended by the manufacturer. Also, if you're younger than 16, you may only drive a vehicle belonging to your parent or legal guardian.
