In order to obtain a driving permit in the state of Oregon, you must pass a vision test, and a Class C drivers license knowledge test.

Additional Permit Requirements and Fees

Before you can take the drivers permit test, you must submit the following to your local DMV office:

  • Proof of Oregon residency.
  • Proof your legal name and address.
  • Social Security card, or proof of your Social Security number.
  • Proof of enrollment in school or school completion, if you’re younger than 18.
  • Completed application form (signed by a parent or legal guardian if you’re younger than 18).
  • $5 permit test fee.
  • $23.50 permit fee.

Permit Restrictions

While driving with an Oregon learners permit, you must be accompanied by a licensed driver of 21 years of age or older, sitting beside you in the passenger seat. Your vehicle must be registered and insured; you must carry proof of registration and auto insurance at all times.
