How do I apply for an AR drivers license if I am younger than 18? Arkansas

New Driver Checklist
As a young teen, you'll have a lot to remember to bring to the office. Here's a list of what you'll need.

AR Drivers License Requirements (Ages 14-17)

  • One proof of school enrollment.
  • One proof of grade point average of at least 2.0.
  • One proof of U.S. legal presence  (such as a valid U.S. passport or U.S. birth certificate).
  • Two acceptable primary proofs of identity, or one secondary and one primary proof (such as a birth certificate, work ID, or school ID).
  • Your Social Security number (or signed affidavit stating you weren't issued a number).
  • Payment for the $20 driver license fee.
You'll have to pass the vision test, written test, and driving test; you don't need an appointment for any license test. Be sure to bring a parent or legal guardian with you to the testing site.

Arkansas teens between the ages of 14-18 must go through the state's graduated licensing system that includes a learners permit phase, along with an intermediate license phase.

Drivers Ed Requirements

You don't have to take any formal driver training or drivers education classes to qualify for your drivers license. However, taking these classes can improve your chances of passing the required tests.

Taking a permit practice test can help you with the written test. These classes are offered by many companies online.
