Delaware License Renewal

Having an expired license is not a cause for great alarm, but should be taken care of promptly. Being the reinstate license process as soon as you can, at any DE DMV office. No appointment is necessary.

Note that:

  • There is a late fee of $1.15, plus the renewal driver license fee of $25.
  • You will not be required to take a license test if your license only recently expired.
  • If you wait six months or a year to go in, you’ll have to take the license test. These tests may also be given at the DMV discretion.

Other Penalties

Driving with an expired Delaware drivers license could earn you a traffic ticket, should you get stopped by a police officer for some other reason. This could add points onto your drivers license, costing you extra money to go to traffic school or pay more for auto insurance.

You can renew 60 days in advance of your license expiring, so there’s little excuse to let the license go unrenewed.
