Will all accidents show up on a vehicle history report?
Major auto accidents that were reported by the police, an insurance company, or a collision repair center are on the vehicle history report. Fender benders that no one reported or the owner had fixed themselves will not be on the report. To get a vehicle history, also called a VIN check, you’ll need the car’s VIN (vehicle identification number). The current owner or dealer should be willing to provide you with this information; not providing you with a VIN is a red flag.
