How do I apply for a MO drivers license if I am 18 or older? Missouri
Missouri Drivers License
To apply for a Missouri driver license you must first obtain a permit. This requires passing a vision test, a 25-question written test, and a road sign test.To prepare for the written and road sign tests, you'll need to study the state's drivers manual. All test questions originate from driving topics addressed in the manual, including road sign identification, highway driving, and the use of directional lights. You can obtain a hardcopy from any DOR office, or by downloading from the DOR website.
Next, take at least one practice test. These can be found online and mirror the actual permit tests, allowing you to gauge whether or not you're test-ready.
When you're prepared to take the permit tests, visit any DOR office with:
- Proof of name.
- Proof of age.
- Proof a lawful presence.
- Proof of Missouri residency.
- Proof Social Security number.
- Cash or a check or money order to pay the $3.50 permit fee (some DOR offices will accept debit and credit cards).

- Proof of name and age.
- A working vehicle that's registered and displays a valid inspection sticker.
- Your Missouri permit.
