Looking Up Car HistoryThere are different ways of finding out if your vehicle was wrecked or stolen, but the best way to get that information in one place is by obtaining a vehicle history report.
Car accidents and thefts are two totally different things, and researching the two together can be a bit tricky if you don’t know what’s available to you. If you don't get a vehicle history report, you'll have to do the legwork on your own:
- Determining whether your vehicle has been wrecked can involve a mechanic’s inspection to check for any frame damage.
- To check about a previous theft, you can contact law enforcement with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and they may be able to tell you whether the car was ever stolen.

- History of maintenance, including oil changes, performed by service stations or dealerships.
- Insurance claims and accidents.
- Ownership history.
- Police reports.
If you’d like to find out if your vehicle was wrecked or stolen, or if you’d like to do your due diligence on a used car before buying it, obtain a vehicle history report online today.
