Two Different Records

Criminal record reports contain driving-related criminal convictions that also appear on your driving record, but criminal records and driving records are two separate records maintained by different state agencies. A criminal record is a record of all your arrests and convictions and is maintained by law enforcement and the state attorney general. A driving record is a record of all your citations and driving-related convictions and is maintained by the state DMV.

Some items appear on both your criminal record and your driving record, such as DUI, DWI, hit and run, and any other driving-related criminal convictions. Therefore, if you’ve been convicted of a driving-related crime, anyone accessing your criminal record will be able to see it.

Order Your Records

However, anyone wishing to view your complete driving record will not be able to get that information simply by viewing a criminal record. If you’re curious whether an item appears on either report, you can order your criminal record and your driving record online. Ordering online is quick and convenient and will save you a lot of time at your state agencies.
