NC Driver License Fees
To obtain a North Carolina drivers license you must, at one time or another, pay one or all of the following license fees:- Learners permit: $15
- Limited provisional license: $15
- Drivers license: $4 per license year
Obtain a North Carolina Drivers License
Visit any DMV office with:- Proof of age and identity.
- Proof of car insurance.
- Proof of North Carolina residency.
- Proof of your Social Security number.
- Cash or a check or credit card for the driver license fee payment.
Take the Driving License Test
No appointment is needed for a driving test, although some DMV test site locations do offer this option. When you arrive for the test, have with you:- A working vehicle with proof of insurance.
- Your permit or license.
- A licensed parent or guardian, if applicable.
