How do I apply for an OH drivers license if I am younger than 18? Ohio
OH Driver License Process (Younger than 18)
Before you can apply for your Ohio drivers license, you'll need to obtain your learners permit or temporary instruction permit. To do that, you must pass a vision test and a written license test at a driver exam station. Studying the Ohio drivers license manual and taking a permit practice test is a good way to prepare for the knowledge exam. You must also finish a state-approved drivers education or driver training course through a high school or a licensed commercial drivers ed school. And, you must accumulate at least 50 hours of properly supervised behind-the-wheel time (at least 10 at night) - certified by a parent or legal guardian.
That's all before you can apply for a license.
Once you've held the drivers permit for a minimum of six months and completed your other obligations, you can apply for your driver license. Here's how to do so.
- Set an appointment with an Ohio Driver License Examination Station for your driving test.
- Go the exam station with your temporary instruction permit, your drivers ed certificate, and the standard required documents (see below).
- Bring a car for the test that's in safe operating condition.
- Pass the road test.
- Get your probationary drivers license at a deputy registrar office (fees vary).

- Full legal name
- Date of birth
- Social Security number (if assigned one)
