Do I have to take a license test or driving test to obtain a drivers license in OR? Oregon
OR Driver License Test Requirements
First-time drivers in the state of Oregon must pass a vision test, a written license test, and a driving test in order to obtain an Oregon drivers license. New drivers younger than 18 must also pass a safe driving practices test.Written License Test Preparation
In addition to the OR Driver Manual, available through the Oregon DMV, you can prepare for the written license test by taking a practice test or two. Practice tests are available online from a variety of independent websites, some for a low fee and some for free.Driver License Test Fees
The fee for the written test is $5; the fee for the driving test is $9, in addition to the $60 license fee. There is no fee for the safe driving practices test.Making an Appointment
You do not need an appointment for the written or vision test, but an appointment is required for the driving road skills test.Typically, this appointment is made after all other requirements are met, however same-day tests may be available at some locations. Contact your local DMV ahead of time, if you would prefer to take the driving test on the same day as the written test.
