The Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) sets drivers license fees in the state. Adults, teens, and new residents that relocate to Rhode Island (RI) must pay the fees before they receive their driver license.DMV fees are based on the driver’s age and the driver license type. Current RI driver license fees are as follows:
- Fee to duplicate or replace drivers license: $26.50
- Original driver license for drivers younger than 75: $31.50
- Original driver license for drivers 75 years and older: $9.50
- License renewal for drivers aged 18 to 74: $31.50
- License renewal for drivers aged 75 and older: $9.50
- Restricted learners permit for drivers younger than 18: $11.50
- Instructional drivers permit for drivers 18 and older: $6.50
