Tennessee (TN) driver license fees are set by the state’s Department of Safety (DOS). Driver license fees are based upon the driver’s age. Most TN driver licenses are good for five years.A DOS application fee is applied to TN learners permits and drivers license rates. Fees for permits and licenses are as follows:
- Unrestricted drivers license (18 or older): $19.50 (includes $2 application fee)
- Unrestricted drivers license (16-18 years old; valid for one year: $2
- Restricted drivers license (16 -18 years old): $24.50
- Learners permit (older than 17): $5.50
- Learners permit (younger than 18): $10.50
- First duplicate drivers license: $8
- Second duplicate drivers license: $12
