Tennessee Driver License Training Requirements
The Tennessee Department of Safety (DOS) mandates that all teens younger than 18 years old complete driver training before they receive their drivers license. Minimum drivers education required is 50 hours; 10 of those hours must take place at night.A licensed driver must accompany teens in the motor vehicle that they practice driving in. Before teens take their license test they must submit a signed certification from their parents or legal guardians. The certification affirms that the teen practiced driving for at least 50 hours.
