Does each branch of the DMV have its own phone number?
This is a yes and no question. Many DMV locations possess direct phone numbers, allowing you to speak directly with a DMV agent at that specific location. But there are some states that don't disclose branch office phone numbers. Rhode Island is a prime example. It provides addresses and maps to its seven branch locations, but no contact numbers, preferring to direct all incoming calls to one central phone number.
If you cannot track down a phone number for a particular branch, you'll have to settle for contacting the main office. Either an operator will redirect your call to another department, or you'll be prompted to punch in a department's extension number.
You can find contact numbers at your state's DMV Web site. If it does offer branch office phone numbers they'll either be listed alphabetically by town or county, or via a sectioned map of your state. When you click on a specific section it will then open to a listing of branch offices located within this area.
