You can comply with the state's insurance requirements one of three ways: liability insurance, a surety bond, or self-insurance.Liability Insurance
If you opt for car insurance, you must carry, at the very minimum, the following amounts of coverage:
- $50,000 for injury or death of one person.
- $100,000 for injury or death of two or more people.
- $15,000 for property damage.
- $25,000/$50,000 for uninsured motorist coverage.
Surety Bond
You must obtain a $60,000 surety bond with an insurance company licensed to operate in Wisconsin.
Self-Insurance
Establish self-insurance by making a $60,000 cash deposit to the WI DMV.
