By all means, yes. You don't want to get caught driving on a suspended license, which, in all probability, will result in steeper fines and a longer suspension. Claiming ignorance to a suspended license will not get sympathy from the court.

Ordering a driving record is especially imperative if you're aware of any outstanding warrants. Depending on the severity of the warrant, it could trigger an automatic suspension. And with a driving record you'll be able to check if license is suspended.

Another advantage of having a copy of your driving record, besides to check if a license is suspended, is the ability to check for points. If, for example, you discover you're only one or two points away from exceeding the state's alloted point total, which would prompt an immediate suspension, you'll be able to take preventive actions. This could mean paying closer attention to situational driving rules and/or enrolling in a traffic school with the hope of having points removed from your license.
