No, traffic school will not remove a DUI from your driving record.

Traffic school is intended for minor offenses like stop sign violations and minor speeding tickets. A DUI is a very serious driving offense, to say the least. Each year thousands of innocent people are killed by drunk drivers, and many more are seriously injured and paralyzed. As a result, states have cracked down over the last few decades on drunk driving, passing very strict laws on how much alcohol can be consumed before getting behind the wheel of a car. If you’ve been convicted of a DUI, the state is not interested in making your life easy.

No Traffic School for DUIs

Traffic school is offered for relatively minor driving offenses, with the belief that minor driving errors can be corrected with continued education. A DUI is a serious criminal offense that the state does not believe can be corrected with a simple 8-hour course. For that reason, you will not be able to attend traffic school to remove a DUI from your driving record. Depending upon the circumstances, you may indeed be required to attend traffic school as part of your punishment, but it will not expunge the DUI from your driving record.

DUIs on Your Driving Record

What this means is that your DUI will appear on your driving record for a number of years, as much as 10 years in most states. If you’d like to know if a DUI still appears on your driving record, or if you’d like to know about any other offense on your driving record, you can check with the DMV. Or if you’d like to avoid the long lines at the DMV, you can always order your driving record quickly and easily online.
